Advice on selling car

Hi. I'm selling my car privately and a buyer some distance has made a offer They sent a garage out to check the car over but haven't seen it themselves. They wish to proceed with the sale and arrange for the car to be collected once paid for. My concern is I haven't met them, they won't be able to sign the DVLA papers in person for me to send off. I'm hesitant to go ahead with sale because they can't collect or sign in person, am I being to cautious or right to not proceed if they don't come themselves.
I'be never sold a car privately before and the DVLA say Im responsible to ensure all docs are signed
Thanks in advance for any advice
Diane

The paperwork is the least of your worries as you can just fill in the v5 and sign and send to the dvla, any signature will do for the third party. Ie remember any car bought from the trade the v5 is signed by them and they are not the registered owner.

The non appearance and collection by third party is a typical scammers trick, so the most important thing is to check that the money is cleared with the bank by ringing them to confirm taking notes of names and times. Tell the buyer you will not release the car to the collection agent until the funds are cleared which should put off any non genuine buyers.

Thanks for sound advice it's always good to get confirmation and other points of view. I took the decision to sell the car back to the garage this morning and now await my new Cayman 718. Sorry guys loved my cayenne but age and fun overtook me. Money in the bank from a OPC was the safest option.
Thanks for the sound advice.
Diane

ps I'll post photos of new car when it arrives later in the year. I'm like an excited kid waiting for xmas

Good move selling to OPC Diane. It's not unknown for "buyer" to manage to recall / reverse funds within minutes of taking the car.
