Advice On this Special Car 9972s

First things first - its not wide body, C2S is on a standard 911 body.

Secondly its right hand drive, so was it converted from left hand drive? Otherwise its a UK model or else some one has bought a UK spec car abroad. That ambiguity would get my alarm bells going. I'd want to know more about the car and its history.

Thirdly half the sepc items are standard on the C2S. The expensive extras are the Ceramic Brakes and Adaptive sports seats both worth having. Cruise control is a license saver and sports chrono is a fun extra (opinion divided on this one).

At this point prices are £40-something K for similar else where but UK specced.

Key is have you driven it and compared how it drives with other C2S' from other showrooms? If not, you need too.

I also wouldn't buy a 911 from a non Porsche specialist dealer without getting an independent check by a Porsche specialist mechanic.

The rest is up to you but if it were me I'd look at similar age and mileage 997's from a Porsche specialist like paragon or similar, they are UK spec and are only a few £k more but the extra piece of mind might be worth it.
 
Totally agree with comments above. Yes, 07 plate for 40k sounds good, but would rather buy a bit older from OPC or someone well known.
 
doesnt look "a great deal"to me.fair maybe but not great-if you look around there are quite a few for 40k ish ,maybe slightly older but with no question marks-.as others have suggested get it checked by specialist before parting with that much loot from nonopc or good indy

Looks a bit on the cheap side to me which would set some alarm bells ringing, especially with that spec. Has just had a main dealer 20k service so should all be ok mechanically? I think, like Tom says, the main question is why is this a European RHD car and where has it lived the last 2 years. Similar specs seem to be up around £45-50k+. Then there is the extended warranty situation which I guess might be tricky depending on the history? Call me old-fashioned but personally speaking spending that sort of cash I'd rather spend a bit more and buy from a Porsche main dealer. On the other hand it could be a real gem..........Good luck!
 
umm, i didn't pay a awful lot more than that for a 2yr old C4S with only 1000k miles on the clock. from my local OPC. i suggest you shop around and negotiate.
 
Echoe whats been said above. It also irritates me when non opc dealers pad out their descriptions with spec thats either standard or part of one item, eg adaptive sports seats is one option that has electric memory seats with lumbar support. All carrera s cars have leather dash and door cards.
 
Before going any further, I would check the country code. If it is C16 (UK) then it may just be a personal import, and it wouldn't bother me too much. However, if it something like C98 (Cyprus) then you need to be much more careful. The alarm system may not be Thatcham Approved, and you would also need to check the build date of the car. There was a case on the 996 forum of a chap who who bought a C4S which was sold (and registered) as a 2005 car, but the VIN showed it to be MY2003.

Not sure why they said it was a Wide body???

To be honest 40k is at the top end of my budget but this just seemed well specd with decent milage .My biggest fear is buying something that then breaks.

Agree with all the comments above, lots out there from OPC's willing to negotiate and at least you have no concerns then when selling on or doubt about its history
 
So what happened? I note its still for sale, I note the ad doesn't say its an import. Did you drive it and not like it?
 
Turned out to be a non starter purchased a carrera s elswhere also basalt black with great spec

picked up car on friday have been enjoying it so far.
 
Regarding imports , LHD , RHD ,Cyprus etc, its worth noting that only UK and Netherlands spec cars have the wiring loom for the thatcham approved M530 spec. The spec includes a tilt sensor, battery backed siren and tamper proof nuts on the rear DME. If you dont have these items fitted , then finding insurance in the UK can be difficult. Forget adding an aftermarket alarm from Cobra or Clifford it cannot be done , because the aftermarket alarm cannot work along side the existing porsche security and that cannot be turned off. The only soulution is to install the wiring and hardware to bring the car up to UK spec, then get a letter from Porsche to confirm it works as per UK cars. This is the route i had to take witrh my LHD 987 S.
