Advice on wheel size on 993

Hi
just looking for some advice- just bought a 1994 C2 with -17 inch cup wheels - I think these are the standard spec wheels, but I'm thinking of upgrading to 18 inch ones

is it just a case of swapping the wheels or is there more to consider before I dive in and buy some? I know the ride can be a bit harder

many thanks

The standard wheel size for a 1994 993 was actually 16" cup wheels, the 17" cup wheels were an option. So going 18" is two inches over standard and unless you have upgraded suspension the ride is very hard and not very nice. You can alleviate by letting a few pounds out of the tyres(plenty of posts on search about this). Your money would be better spent sticking with 17" and upgrading the suspension if it hasnt been done.

In addition to the above which I fully agree with, 18" wheels on a narrow body 993 look wrong, stick with the originals.

+1! And the ride with 17" is exactly as it should be. I never "upgraded " mine, happy with 17" now for 14 years.

Hi,
Looking for a set of 17" Cup 2 wheels for my newly acquired 1994 993 Carrera. 7"x 17" ET55 and 9" x 17" ET55, think that these are the correct size and offset that I need, currently the 993 has the original 16" fitted. Thanks
