Time to get my 944 S2 Cab out for the summer.
It has been standing for a while but started every few months.
Went to start it today and whilst it turns over it will not start.
Are there any obvious things to look at first before I start taking it apart.
Thanks
David.

Had the same problem myself in the past. Could well be stale petrol. I now try and leave the tank fairly empty when I lay it up in October and then add fresh plus some redex after 3 months or so and again in readiness for spring and getting MOT'd and back on the road. An easy fix if that's what it is. Good luck.

If just for the winter it should start even if the petrol is s***e. Always look for the three things you need. Fuel, compression and spark. Get a park tester (fairly cheap to buy) and start there. You can bypass the DME with a cable as per Clarks Garage www.clarks-garage.com

Get a can of Easy-Start, spray some in the air intake and have someone try start it, if the engine fires up and runs for a moment you know your elects and compression is all good and you just have a fuel problem.
If so, remove the dme relay and do the trick with the wire (see Clarks garage), if the car starts and runs then you know you have a faulty dme relay. Replace it.

If still won't run with the modified relay, I would next look at the fuel pump..Which is under a cover accesable if you remove the osr wheel, take it off and bench test it.
