Advice re PCM

Being stuck indoors recovering from illness I have been thinking about improvements to my car.

It is fitted with a clunky telephone handset which is wired into the PCM .

I'd like to get rid of hat and maybe replace with a cradle for a smartphone.

Has anyone had any experience of this update and advice as to my plan?

Get rid of what - the handset or the entire PCM? With such an old system, you'll find a much better and cheaper solution but replacing the PCM - a sat nav you can easily and cheaply update, plus much better connectivity with the phone.

I believe yours is a 2004 car, in which case it is PCM2 with the fibre optic MOST bus. That makes it more difficult/expensive to replace/update. If you just want rid of the handset, I would suggest just removing it and replacing the side panel with a standard one. You could get a Dension/Tooki/Viseeo/Mobridge bluetooth adapter to integrate a smartphone into the system.

Thanks both

Richard is right mine is a 2004 car and what he suggests sounds like what I am thinking about having done.
