Advice required - 997 C4S

Having made a decision to go tin-top and leave my Boxster days behind, I have in mind a particular C4S.

I have been brave and tried to read all that I can and consult folk before I jump in, and have not been put off yet. My biggest problem is that I need to make a deal before I am drawn back to the world of the Boxster as the new launch, to which I am invited, is imminent. If I go, I will likely buy hence if I have no money already I cannot!. That's the theory at least.

Waffle over, does anyone in this reputable forum know of vehicle registration DK06 0GX, and if so, can he (or she) put any meat on the bones history wise?

Please be quick as money may change hands soon.

Thanks all,

Andrew

Can't offer any particular advice on that car but I moved from a 987S to a 997 C4S and LOVE it. Boxster was a fabulous car, amazing to drive and I miss it on the occasional sunny day but I can squeeze the entire family in the C4S and they can enjoy the journey too!

You could always look at an independent inspection or put it through a 111 point check at an OPC to give you some peace of mind. Bear in mind there are plenty of horror stories on the web about scored bores and IMS/RMS failures so do your research but don't let it put you off buying what is a fantastic car. Mine is rapidly approaching 70k miles and still feels special every time I drive it.

Good luck with the purchase and post up pics when you get it!

Although an OPC warranty isn't transferable from a dealer it is transferable from a private seller. If you have seen one you like and it passes a 111 point check the seller can warrant it and transfer to you. This s what I did - factoring the warranty into the price. Good luck - great cars

I made the ljump from a 987 Boxster S to a 997 C2S and I am loving it
They look and feel similar from the driving position (well they are the same) but the extra more power & handling difference is amazing!
I have the PSE too which sounds fantastic!
I was very worried about the IMS failure but had all the checks, however you just never know
I bought privately and had it serviced immediately and checked the oil filter for shards of metal as a precaution and all was fine
I thought about buying from an OPC with a warranty but my budget meant I'd have to have had a 3 year older model and I'm all about risidules so took the gamble
I'd say go for the 911 and you'll love it!

Have to agree with the other gentlemen,

I made the move from my 06, 987 Boxster S in Novemeber last year I now have a 08, 997 C4S, purchased from Porsche Leeds, inc 2 year warranty

Love it to bits, the Boxster I had from 20707 to 2011 exactly 4 years, as I hung on for one that had a Sunroof I even find its a pleasure to drive in this sunny weather.

Just Do it [:D]

My C2S is six years old now and it still leaves a smile on my face every time I drive it. 2 years ago opc highlighted a very slight weep from my rms area but after 2 yrs I have not found as much as a drip of oil on my garage floor. If buying private try and negotiate with the seller to include the Porsche warranty, it will cost about a grand but 500 each isn't too bad.. enjoy.[:D]

Folks,

Thanks for your comments so far. I'm an optimist by nature and agree that those unfortunate horror stories should be viewed in perspective. I have a Warrantywise thing for the Boxster, never needed it but great cover so I would do that for the next car too.

I'm looking forward to a test drive next week when the deal may well be completed. In response to Steve and Lorraine, me too - I couldn't do without a sunroof and boy, is it hard to find the right car! so many tick nearly all the boxes - I nearly went for a 996 Turbo but my motto is to never go back, so here we go.

I'll keep you all posted.

I would welcome views on the value of a car like this. I have an 06 C4S trip with sunroof which i have owned since new. The car only has 13,500 on the clock and just had new rubber on the back. i had originally planned to switch to the 991 but the reviews don't seem good enough to justify the additional expense. I now face the dilemma of either renewing the warranty or selling.
