Hello all,

I am about to return to Boxster ownership but I can't make up my mind what to buy. Due to my budget I have the option of either purchassing a 986 2.7 facelift or an original 986 S. I have test driven a number of S but not yet a 2.7 facelift. I am interested to hear what peoples recomendations are. I am drawn towards the facelift because i think its a bit more attractive but obviously the S has the vroom!

Bought my "cooking" 2.7 987 from Cambridge OPC(very nice people![:)]) when it was 6 months old - now it's just over 3 yrs old and can honestly say it's not given me any cause for concern. The performance(& fuel economy) on the road is good(moved from a Caterham into a new Lotus Elise then onto the Boxster). Particularly pleased with the handling/balance on the road - it's been on track at both Brands & Castle Coombe and has far more ability than the pilot!!! Yes it would be nice to have an 'S' but personally have been able to keep infront of many a Carrera on both the road & track[;)] Cheers Grandad Edward

Me again, Have you looked at the "Members for Sale" section - good looking boxsters there? Edward

thanks - i'll take a look. After a bit of thought I have decided to stretch the budget and get what i really want which is the facelift S.

Bit of advice don't spend all of your budget on the car, keep an amount aside for repairs etc that will occur in the first year of ownership. Then enjoy. Chris

Definitely a facelift car - if only for the glass rear screen (although obviously you might find an older car that's had its roof swapped).

I know you have made the decision to go for a facelift S, but in case you change your mind, I don't think the original S has much more power than the facelift 2.7. What you really need is a 550 like spyderman's. ;-)

thanks, I had a 2.5 for 6 years so I want to get a facelift model now. I am going to buy the S because it's the one I always wanted. I can't believe what you can get for your money now compared to when I bought my original Boxster.
