I've the usual gray plastic centre console in my 996 C4S , and it has some scratches on it , has anyone removed , stripped and sprayed theirs in Artic silver themselves and then lacquered it.

I've seen photographs of them already done and they look so much better , if so did you wet flat it and plastic prime , top coat and lacquer it yourselfs or send it to a professional body shop ?

I repainted mine a few weeks ago. Easy to remove and put back.
I used Mat black general purpose spray paint to try to match the original. I just de-greased it and used a heat gun on some of the scratches. Not perfect but much better than the tatty scratched up original.
I think a glossey silver one would look better, I would lacquer it if painting it silver. You should consider doing the same to other trim parts so that it matches the new console colour?

Thanks for the information , mine is currently light gray to match all the interior , I think the silver goes so well with the gray .

There are quite a lot of consoles on ebay , I've even thought of buying one and then playing around with it until im happy it's perfect , dead money I know but hay ho ??

There's a silver one now on EBay for 150 plus shipping. The problem with silver is if it scratches, the black underneath will show very obviously.

Or go carbon fibre like I did from design911, and that'll look the absolute business and not have visible scratches (except the clear coat)

I had mine dipped in metallic blue carbon fibre along with the air con, radio and ignition key surround, looks great although the guy that did it had to strip the grey soft touch paint and said it was a pain.
