Aerokit on Turbo S

Hi,

Just placed a deposit for another 991 Turbo S for a september build.

Still deciding on the spec but thought the Aerokit would be different. Never specified that before.

Question is does it lower the front chin more than standard? The car park ramps up to the local gym doesn't result in any scrapes with my current one.

Thanks,

Greg

A new aerodynamics kit manages to add significant downforce without increasing the car’s coefficient of drag.
This is accomplished using a front spoiler with winglets, a redesigned deck lid and fixed rear spoiler with winglets, which unlike the previous 997 model, does not interfere with the automatically adjusting rear wing - also a revised rear fascia.
The kit is said to increase downforce at 186 mph by 37 pounds on the front axle for a total of 57 pounds of downforce, and by 40 pounds on the rear axle for a new of 331 pounds of downforce. The resulantt extra grip should improve high-speed stability and handling.
Porsche have not disclosed any potential reduction in ground clearance and as the front splitter is active and retractable, it is possible there is no difference, but it's something your Porsche Centre should easily be able to answer.
Regards,

Clive.

The SportAuto Supertests includes aero measurement at 200km/hr in the Mercedes wind tunnel, they get the following results for a standard Turbo S at 124mph.

Front: 20 kg downforce
Rear axle: 40 kg downforce

I post only because this site is an interesting source of data. The url for the Turbo S test data is... http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/supertest/porsche-911-turbo-s-der-alleskoenner-mit-scharfem-s-8015372.html?show=2

All in German of course but if you view it with a Chrome browser set to auto translate you can understand their results.
