so I just bought a complete boot lid with aerokit spoiler for my 996 gen2

I'm told a straight forward swap. it comes tomorrow.we'll see!

I am hoping the connector for the fan (that also actuates the active spoiler - which the aerobat doesn't have) just plugs in.

I am wondering too what will happen when I go over 75 - will the 'spoiler not deployed' light come on?

has anyone here fitted one of these to theirs?

OK all fitted. straight forward swap. no issues. Came with a blanking plate to go over the rear brake light.

The spoiler light comes on for a few seconds after starting engine so after that it goes out so no problem.

Hi Tomc

I have just purchased a GT2 wing for my 996 did you need a special harness to de activate the rear spoiler ???

Best regards

Simon

my new wing is fixed so no issue with worrying about raising.

the harness that came with the wing just plugged straight into the existing socket that the old wing/harness plugged into.

this is to power the brake light in the wing.

the old second brake light in the boot is covered with a blanking panel

Note: fitting my wing was very easy since I bought a complete boot lid with wing.

Salvaged I presume from a wrecked car

So I just unbolted the 4 hinge bolts and swapped

ok mine is a replacement wing and I need to cancel the standard deck spoiler from raising at 75mph without upsetting the fans

regards Simon

There is a separate wiring harness available for the Aerokit rear spoiler, which connects the 3rd brake light and engine compartment cooling fan. It also disables the spoiler warning light on the dash. Part Number 996.612.070.51 @ £70.39 +VAT.

However, if you Google, you should be able to find threads on other forums which show the changes you need to make on the standard bootlid loom to sort out the spoiler light issue.

Yes light comes on at 75mph as I have left the plug disconnected only trouble is this powers fans and engine bay light
cheers simon
