I been doing a fiar bit of research, as you would expect to am i am thinking about paying out alooad of money for a car..and i want it to be the right one...[8|]

  1. How much can i expect a TT to depreciate in 2 years time? Say i buy a 2002 with 30K on the clock, and in two years i have covered 10K?[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

  2. Is there a facelift model in the 996 TT? or are they the same through out the years?[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

  3. What year should i avoid buying?[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

  4. I have a budget of say £43K, what can this buy me? [FONT=verdana, geneva"]

  5. Should i look for a low milleage car?[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

  6. What are the serivcing cost? and how often does the car require a service...?[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

  7. I know you can get a baby seat in the rear..is there a Pram avaliable in the market that will fit in the boot? (or whatever they are called on the TT's ;-)[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

Crystal ball.......£10-15k....ish

No, a few changes, main one for 02 MY with BOSE & auto-dim mirror standard

  1. [FONT=calibri"]What year should i avoid buying?[FONT=verdana,geneva"][FONT=verdana,geneva"]
None, its all about condition & service history, ensure a full OPC check over if buying privately & buy the warranty, cheap at £800-ish

Probably a very nice well specced 02 or maybe an 03, depends on garage or private!
  1. [FONT=calibri"]Should i look for a low milleage car?[FONT=verdana,geneva"][FONT=verdana,geneva"]
Condition first, but 5-10k per year is probably best.

Look on the Porsche website it lists all the service costs for you. once a year or 12k miles!

'Facelift' cars get you a glovebox and cupholders, and a few other goodies.

A Quinny Zapp pram will fit in the front luggage compartment.

I know what you are saying Rob, but the Turbo didn't get a facelift, they simply added the glovebox & cup holders with the MY02 change, along with the Bose & auto-mirror!

Don't forget the matt switches too! Also, there was some bodyshell stiffening, seat belt tensioners with belt force limiters, larger cntre air vent, and seat and mirror memory by remote.

To add and repeat.......MY02 model got the Bose package as standard, auto-dim mirror with rain sensor, and a glovebox and cupholders. PCM2 instead of PCM1 in MY03 (52 plate cars). From MY04 (53 plate cars) PCM satellite navigation was standard.

Guys thanks for the replies....

very shocked to about the depreciation..£10K - £15K...thats allot...No?

I was under the impression TT value would have held steady for a while now, as the 993's i think cost near £35K..well for a good one...but i could be wrong...

Dealer told me SAT NAV was standard from 02 cars....?

Though my budget was £40k...but i think i will stretch it for a 02 plate car...

Unfortunately from the 996, Porsche became a volume manufacturer and there are many more available than with the air cooled models. This means that there are more available on the second hand market, so prices will continue to drop as supply and demand dictate the market value. You only have to look towards models where demnd outstrips supply to see how the values keep increasing.

If you don't mind the older looks and lack of electronic driver aids, IMO you'd be better off looking for a 993 turbo.

I see were you are comming from....the 993's are nice, but i just don't like the way the look from the inside..but that is i guess a personal thing....but starting at £30k +

I just realised that i asked the depreation value for 2 years...sorry i thought i said 1 year and was little shocked to see a used car loose that much in a year...[X(] .

I think £10K over a two year period is fair, still little more then i was actaully thinking, perhaps it maybe less but i guess only time will tell.

Thinking now all my previous cars have lost value, though i juts never keep the car for more then a year...i think the average loss was near £2-3K per car...but this is bacsed on a average car costing between £8K and £16K. However there have also been times when i got back what i paid for the car...[;)]

Sam - stop worrying and BUY the d... thing - it's a fantastic tool - you'll never regret it.

You can't be a bean counter all yer life.
