Hi all. I am in the process of installing an innovate air fuel ratio gauge. Essential when winding your boost past the 1 bar level. I brought the gauge from a reputable forum member and am pleased to say it is fully woking an cailbrates in air to 20.8% oxygen. Bang on the money. The previous owner of the kit got as far as welding the bung into his exhaust system for fitting the 02 sensor and circumstances meant he didn't carry on any further with the install. That leaves me short 1 bung. I have tried the local motor factors, who are normally very good and left them scratcing their heads. I also tried Kwik Fit (don't why I bothered) as all I got was blank faces. Lol what did I expect??? to that end does any one know where I might get one??? Failing that does anypne know what thread is on the bosch sensor of the innovate kit. I thought if all else fails I may be able to wled a nut into the exhaust to fix the sensor to. Even though the kits is from the good ole US of A I think it should be metric or maybe even BSP. Any help gratefully received guys.
 
Hi Rob - It's my old kit!!! I would try a specialists like Promax or someone similar who are familiar with such kits. They should also be readily available from any tuning specialist or maybe places like Demon Tweaks. The thread on the Bosch sensor should be a pretty standard metric thread. They have a very good reputation in the states for excellent aftermarket service so i'm sure they'll respond quickly. Failing that email Innovate or even give Lindsay Racing a call.
 
Hi scott you'll be glad to know that all is well with the gauge although I never doubted you mate. Everything is in apart from the bung now and I was looking at getting that installed tomorrow so was really after something in a bit of a hurry. I was thinking that failing all else instead of a nut I maybe able to fabricate a collar out os some round bar that has been drilled and tapped. All I need is the variety of thread. I have all the tools needed just no thread gauge to immediate hand!!! I wonder if it's the type of thing that pirtek might do??? Might even be able to squeeze it through on the work account lol.

Making the bung would be like making wheel nuts, possible but unnecessary IMO, and I'm not doubting you're engineering ability.
Its not a popular thread, from memory I think its about M18 but with a fine pitch.
I got one from Promax for a few quid.
It is the correct length, is a neat OD, has a square shoulder at the top to seal the pipe closed (think it was an Innovate part)
Where do you plan to site it?

Hi Rob, I imagine it uses the standard Bosch wideband sensor that most kits use. I have the Dynojet Wideband Commander and noticed they list the bung in their spare parts section:

George as it is a wideband sensor and more prone to heat than the narrow band variety I shall take the advice of Scott from whom I bought it. I plan on mounting it after the turbo just before the downpipe bends through 90 degrees and joins to the centre box. Here the temperatures are much lower and it is nice and handy for popping through the bulkhead where the DME cable pops out from the passenger footwell. Thing is I need to get this thing operational soon as. I have a tial dpw, MBC and chips mapped for 15-18 psi. At the moment I am running rich (don't need a gauge to tell me that lol). I am not keen on winding up the boost until I have it installed though as you know the dangers of running too much boost and the engine becoming dangerously lean.

Good to hear things are moving on.. just an adviso regarding fitting the bung..... it's best to fit a bolt into the bung while welding it to help reduce any distortion. The innovate bung actually comes with a bolt for this very reason, remember to only thread in the bolt about half way so it's not to difficult to remove after the welding has been finished.

Hi Pete silly me remembered I have the remains of my old crossover pipe in the scrap metal at work. I hacked the boss out of that and welded it into the pipe. Lol not the prettiest welding I have ever done but given the space restrictions not bad I thought and it did the trick nicely. Thing is I am having trouble with the gauge after reconnecting the sensor. It calibrated just fine before and read 20.8% in free air. Now all I get is three lines across the gauge. Any help??? Lol perhaps I should break out the CD and actually read the bloody manual!!!

the three dashes usually is a sign of a break in the wires or possible prob with the LC-1 controller.. let's hope it's just a loose plug somewhere along the line. Also do you have the terminal plug connected, IIRC this will also give the dashes..btw are they not dashes and dots?.. I thought it was -.-.- I could be wrong though.. would need to check
 
Lol sometimes i amaze myself with my own idiocy!!! I remembered I disconnected the signal line when I installed the gauge to stop it flashing at me in an annoying way. What do you know it works just fine when you actually connect it!!!
