AFR Reading Help

Alan at Weltmeister has now sent me the dyno printout with the BHP and LMBDA readings.

Can anyone explain what the LMBDA (is this the same as AFR?) readings mean ?

Is there room for Steve Wong to do anything with a custom chip, given these readings ?

Spot on Shirish.

This is what SW has said to me

Hi Ian,

The AFR you have logged is standard for stock programming and a bit too rich for maximum power. The log shows an afr in the 4500 zone on up at a lambda between 0.76 and 0.80 ( 11.2 to 11.8:1 AFR). The ideal afr for maximum power in a 911 motor is a bit leaner at around lambda 0.88 ( 12.8 to 13.1 AFR). The power gains to be achieved can vary, but you should be able to conservatively attain at least 5+ hp in these zones with AFR optimization. Probably more noticably, your low and mid end part throttle range should be significantly improved, making everyday driveability much more usable, and eliminating the sub 4k lag. This is something that is difficult to measure on a dyno, as dynos typically measure full throttle power. Let me know if you have any other questions that I can assist you with.

Best regards,
Steve Wong

I will order the chip soon and see where we go from there.
