AFR ??

Having had AFM problems over the summer which resulted in the meter being sent away for testing, I need to get my AFR set-up again as the adjuster screw was removed at some point during the testing. Fortunately I managed to measure the position of the screw prior to the meter being sent away and have re-set it to this position, the car runs fine. The problem is that it all kicked off when we were trying to adjust the set-up after fitting the SSI's, should I be looking at about 0.9 at tickover? Really ought to get it on the rolling road but time and funds really don't allow this year.

Cheers,

Any MOT station with a gas analyser and the right size allen key should be able to set it up as it only comes into play at idle, after that the mixture is controlled by the ECU I believe.. so to change the running mixture you need the ECU programmed.

If you have any modified parts on your car, such as filters exhausts etc, you may find that 0.9 is a little to low.. even though that is what it is meant to be... most 911 run a lttle rich at idle, just so they run and don't hunt and stale at traffic lights. The legal MOT limit is somthing like 3. All the 3.2's i've had have ended up being set to somewhere around 1.5.

Sorry, I was talking lamda (0.9). The adjuster screw does have a little effect on the overall as it controls the amount of air bypassing the AFM flap. Rolling road tune next year when the funds allow!
