Afraid of water

Hi all , I am new to this water cooled stuff with a 2004 C2 and I was checking the levels the other day and found there was about a 2 cupsfull down in the cooling tank. No leaks to be seen so I checked the oil on the dipstick seemed fine ( has used almost nothing in 2800m) Then opened the remote filler neck for the oil to see the tablespoon full of mayonnaise ! I know that remote filler necks can suffer from condensation which can give this effect but is this quite normal ?
Second thing is that the car suffered a faulty coil misfire a couple of months back which is fixed with a new set but after I noticed a woofle from the tail pipe on the side of the missfire.
Is this likely to be a broken 'cat' or just a baffle in the rear box gone? I thought of taking it to my local MOT station to get them to analyse both pipes to see if there is a difference. Is there another way to test please?
Thanks[:-]

Hi Tony,

A common problem on the 996 is the cracking of the coolant tank which may explain your low coolant levels. See this thread for a recent discussion and cost to fix
http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=254051.

'Mayo' is quite normal and is exacerbated by short journeys.

I would get the 'woofle' checked out by your OPC if you have a warranty, or an independent. New baffles are fairly easy to replace and 2nd hand items can be had on Ebay for less than £50. If the baffles have gone, u may want to try out a Porsche sports exhaust (around £1400+) or a popular copy of the MK1 version on Ebay for around £300 (search for Porsche 996 muffler) to totally transform your car (if u don't have one already!)

Good luck
