been a while since I was in the Cayenne forum ... probably about 7 years or so. Picked up a white Cayenne S eHybrid a couple of weeks ago, but only just got around to being able to get some snaps without rain and car being filthy

And a "repeat" of the above pic, but new Cayenne and 981 Boxster GTS

Thanks for having me back

Busy weekend for the Cayenne and a brilliant example of why the average journey and the 16 miles of these e hybrids just work .. So yes we all know the 16 miles goes down when weather is cold and heaters run and cars get driven and folk say that range is "useless".... however real life story follows

We have close to 100 oak trees at home and they are old (60 years plus) big ones so dump loads of leaves in Autumn .. most years we burn the leaves over numerous weekend, but this year due to my work and wet winter we only managed to burn half the leaves (front garden) before the new year .. the back garden was still covered in leaves and a few inches thick .. so last 3 days + cayenne e Hybrid + trailer + recycling tip (which is a 12 mile round trip) resulted in 18 trips over 3 days which where all pure electric as we could recharge at home as we raked leaves and reloaded the trailer again and again

TL:DR Great car :)

Fantastic pair of cars, great pictures. I have a 12 mile round trip to station each day, so have toyed with idea of hybrid, but fear of battery life (7 / 8 years?) has so far put me off.

Hi I have just bought a cayenne s 4.5 v8 non turbo, really pleased with it.But everyone keeps on about the engine and this block bore wear (piston slap) you are the men to ask is it a real problem with this engine or is it just blown out of all preportion some advice please kind regards lee

I think it is exaggerated but as a precaution i am running my
V8'on Magnatex Oil in the hope that it might give extra protection if needed.
I have had it from new so i know its full history .My only real problem has
been a clonking noise from front drive shafts but OPC cannot find anything wrong with them.
I had the plastic water pipes that run through the head replaced but there was nothing
wrong with them !

TBF, yes I am aware of the NA V8 "slapping" as if you go looking for it there it is on the internet .. However to me it looks like the IMS Boxster "problem", you can find it if you google it and yes sadly some folk have experienced them and thus reported it, however its not on every forum on pages after pages after pages of complaints, so I'd suggest relatively rare in occurrence verus number of Cayennes sold

As always with cars like these get a warranty, if possible the Porsche one and keep within service guidelines at your OPC during which create a good relationship with the service team as they will be the ones who would have to trigger a goodwill claim if it all went "pete tong".

Then, as with any car, as the car gets older and you may be more willing to gamble, sure drop to servicing at a specialist and bank the money saved on servicing and also the money you would have spent on a warranty as your own "just in case" pot of cash .. Finally If you are worried call some one like Hartech who do a Porsche cylinder re linings for other engines and ask them how bad it is and what a potential "repair" would cost

HTH

Thankyou for your reply,I am a first time owner of a porsche, got it booked in at porsche after easter once again thanks.Anymore information what to listen/look out for would be appreciated lee
