After all these countless hours of work and care..

Just a day after i got back from Silverstone..
I was on my way home from Leeds when i suddenly noticed that temperature gauge's on max..pulled over and discovered that all the antifreeze is gone..walked up to a newsagent and bought 2 bottles of water(not bubbling) - leaked out as quick as it went in..so the radiator was gone as i found out..phoned recovery but couldn't give them my exact location so i decided to drive a few miles to find a sign post or something..seconds after i drove off the bonnet popped up as it was closed only to 1st stage!![&:] Well..got home on truck and replaced radiator - that's ok now..also waiting for glass company to ring me back..got to pay £50 excess on that..so i'm left with fc#ked paint on front wing, both sides of bonnet(driver's side also bent up) and window trims(which will be replaced with windscreen anyway),bent bonnet hinges and a broken driver's side bonnet shock lower fixing..

What a real sh*tter, at least hopefully you spotted it before the engine cooked (tip if coolant is leaking from rad and you have to move the car put heater on high fan on full if it goes cold stop immediately). Good luck, sounds like you need some.

Oh No! Cant believe your luck there sorry to hear it. I have made some stupid mistakes with forgetting to close bonet etc but been v.lucky. Worst ever was when I went out for a serious blast with a few passengers, after 20mins couldn't work out what the strange knocking was and something didn't feel good so pulled over and realised I'd forgotton to tighten the wheel nuts! They were finger loose!

Yep..lucky for me spotted before killing engine..by the time i came to moving car the engine was already cooled down and i only had to drive for a mile or so..

Sorry to hear but why didn't the secondary catch prevent the bonnet opening? Also with such a major coolant leak as this I'm suprised you didn't cook the engine, perhaps the bonnet saved you from that at least.

I guess i noticed the temp rising just on time..pheww..
I can only assume that catch went loose when i drove through a hole etc??

temperature gauge's on max

I thought the DME went into safe mode or cut the engine if the temperature goes to high.

Mine did when a thermo switch connection was loose, its a turbo so could be the KLR chips.

Have you standard DME chips?

Got standard chips on standard 2.5..nope - it wasn't that..it was obviously the radiator cause all of the antifreeze leaked out..was hoping just a loose or cracked hose at first but after getting under the car and taking radiator off i saw the cause - the radiator was leaking from left side top end..so it's always practical to have a donor car ready..[:D]

Nope, I got carried away on track, the thermostat stuck, the car was seriously hot as I went on a quick `cool` down lap. It cured itself when filled up (for a time and then did it again.

Drove home with heater on full belt (on a warm sunny evening) and as long as it moved the temp was just above normal. It was only when thrashed it heated up. My car `seems ` to have suffered no damage at all.

Nope, .....

Ditto.

Beaky blew a hose on the Morgan factory tour. I employed the "no heat out of the heater water has gone now" trick. No hint of a safe mode cutting in. No apparent subsequent damage.

Sorry to hear your news Axel. What a total pain.

Oh well..just something to keep me busy til Ragley Hall..i was planning to get the seats refurbished at first but it looks like that has to wait for a while now..and i have decided that i will not go on with selling the car..at least for now..
The worst problem seems to be them little ball thingies that hold the lower end of bonnet struts - one of them broke out all the way and the other one is quite loose as well..gotta figure out what to do with them..[8|]
My mission today will be to find out what's causing that noise from N/S rear wheel area(i'm sure you all heard it @ Silverstone)..thought it was the CV joint but the noise remained after replacing it..so wheel off..

At least it's sunny today..and i just bought me a 3m dia pool a few days ago..[8D]

BTW..if anyone needs any bits for an early dash 944 let me know..it's a 1983 Zermatt Silver Metallic coupe with no sunroof which has come to it's end now..most of the interior is already gone but some bits and bobs still left..no radiator..i wonder where that went..

Send me a pm or ring 07871457258(Axl)

Sorry to hear the bad news after all your hard work - life has a tendancy to do this [:(]
