After-market alarm system for Boxsters

Does anyone know of an after-market alarm system that monitors people getting close to your car (I think these systems use microwaves). I need to protect my wheels as I have had several attempts at people trying to nick them.

If the alarm system could detect people within a foot of the car and sound a warning then that would be ideal. I'm not bothered about cost (within reason!).

I am already installing a high-end CCTV system but that may not be enough. It's a shame as it dents my confidence in the car - it becomes a liability and I have recently thought of selling it and buying Mondeo!

You might have problems with people just passing by - assuming it is to be parked on the street. There are laws concerning car alarms nowadays (I know, too biased towards the 'tea leaf', but the local council can take a dim view if enough complain).

How would you prevent false alarms ? (do I hear wolves crying ?)
Not meant to be negative, but I can see a few problems with this idea.

I've seen adverts for a few single- and dual-zone perimteric alarm systems. From what I can gather, they emit a verbal warning if someone is within a foot of the car and then trigger the cars alarm systems if the monitored 'perimeter' area is not vacated.

I know what you mean about false alarms though! No-one down my road gives a toss about car alarms going off.

I don't want one for the alarm itself but the verbal warning sounded by the unit if someone gets near the car. A couple of the units just say something like, "Security, keep back" or something like that in a reasonably quiet voice that the intruder would hear but, hopefully, would not distrub the neighbours.

[8D]Trouble with the Mondeo concept is they tend to nick the wheels whilst still attached to the Mondeo [:D] Rumba back to the drawing board or how about the underground yes underground garage! Nobody will even know your wheels are below the surface [:D]Intergarage 0800 083 4813 or See article in yesterdays Driving from Sunday Times

It could be quite 'odd' if, whilst walking past a car, it told me I was too close and should back away. I just might take a dim view of being told, by a car, that I couldn't walk on that part of the pavement !
Does the car own the pavement that it parks next to ?

I know, being silly again, but there is a valid point in all this; what if all cars had it fitted ?

There are a couple of Audi's in my companys car park that flash their indicators and emit a quiet high pitched squeal if you get within about a foot. Not enough to annoy anyone but possibly enough to deter a tea leaf.
