After market exhausts

Ladies and gents,

any advice would be greatly appreciated. Run a standard exhaust on my 2001 S. Looking for something a little/much louder; bit of additional BHP maybe. I appreciate its a complicated subject so can I be pointed in right direction on articles/previous posts/tuning companies/websites.

Would prefer to just change back box for something louder but can that be done without changing anything else? Also any specific recommendations on exhaust makes? Seen the designtek supersound and EuroCupGThas anyone got experience of either of these?
Many thanks in advance

Kimo

The Carnewal GT exhaust is highly recommended by most it seems. It's something I would consider in the near future

Unfortunately Carnewal have run out of 986 rear boxes - you will have to source one locally and send to them, or go there.

Search for EBay item number 290655886215
They are modified Dansk exhausts, with a bypass pipe so it sounds like a PSE.

I bought one years ago (and many others on here have bought one from this seller) and it sounds fantastic, almost Identical to a PSE (though unswitchable so it's always on)

However, when I bought mine it was a modified standard exhaust not a Dansk one, and you'll have to ask him if the 996 version will fit a 986 (if it does, make sure you find out if its off a tip or manual, as their fixing brackets are located slightly differently)

Seems the Carnewal GT is rated by many. Its a bit of a drive though...

Are there any recommended dudes in this country that can fit it to Gert's spec?

nice; its gunna smart on the final price though...

Can these go straight in without mods and whats the deal with the switchable sound?

i had heard that. Can also be controlled via PSE switch for the valves

Anyone got experience of this one with regards to sound and power?

Funny as that back box is my old one. It sounds fantastic, i'd have fitted it to my new facelift 986 if I could have. Two things to keep in mind with the PSE, it does not effect horse power also there is no drone.

:)

Andy,

its a small world (and sometimes very bad).

can you tell me more on the exhaust such as additional sound difference? Also how much myther is it and cost for the controllable switch.

Hoe much are they new?

Kimo

Hi, the sounds is a much throatier and to me more like how the car should have sounded. New they are loads and loads. I'm a bit stuck on your question about the control switch? I never bothered trying to fit it as the sound is really not that loud for the hassle of hooking it up to the vacuum system.

:)
