After market Head Unit Replacement - No Fader control

Hello everyone, I hope all is well.

I have recently had my old becker replaced with a nice new Pioneer car-play 2 din unit.

My car is a 996 C4S 2004 with a Bose MOST system.

The installer has fitted the system keeping the Bose AMP in place.

And on setting up the radio I find I don't have fader control. I reached out to the installer and his response is below:-

[style="background-color: #ffff00;"]"All the companies we use in the UK do not do a harness that will convert an analogue 4 channel audio signal to MOST fibre optic as it is not possible. If you have spoken to other people and they have it working please double check there BOSE amp is fibre optic not analogue as the older 996 911 used a non-fibre optic amp. We have fitted stereos to a ridiculous amount of Porsches over the years and have never come across a lead that will convert a front and rear analogue signal to Most fibre optic. If you can source one then we can have a look at it for you and get this installed but as far as we are aware there isn’t one available."[/style]

If anyone has had a same/similar install to a same/similar spec car do they also have this limitation?

Regards,

Nozer

Think it's pretty universal with aftermarket head units and BOSE - typically the recommendation is set things like "Sound Pilot to off and the Fader to central" before you swap the unit ( of course - that's little use after the fact ).

BOSE equipped cars give a number of challenges to replacement head units - including if you choose to bypass the amp altogether then apparently the speakers are non standard as well.

Reasonably priced MOST converter boxes can be hand for around £100 but only have stereo audio. The only company I ever found that did more is MoBridge, which has the model DA2 which offers 8 RCA inputs to MOST, but this will cost you $600 plus shipping and taxes to the UK at which point you could get a PCCM+ Porsches modern OEM replacement that is completely plug and play and integrates with your instrument cluster for navigation and audio info and comes with its own full Chanel most converter, that’s what I have in my 2004 C4S after having had a CDR23, PCM2, becker Grand prix and and alpine unit in the quest for a decent radio in a classic.
