After market Turbo exhaust options?

I have a rather strange looking exhaust on my car which I have to investigate once she is back. The back box how ever is a a sort of compressed oval. what are the preferred performance exhaust and back box for a Turbo?

ill try and link the current one.

Rear boxes tend to have oval tail pipes on larger bores. It stops your exhaust looking like you took it from the nearest ricer. A circular one would look huge. I have no idea on the effects on airflow of different tail pipes but I would hope the better quality manufacturers had put some thought into it.

Mine has a Hayward and Scott fitted by the previous owner about 10 years ago. Its a 3" fron system coming down to 2.5" at the back box. Still as good as new although doesn't sound brilliant in my opinion. Fairly quiet though.

I would suggest Jetex stainless components are the best starting point.

My 3" exhaust and down-pipe are a DIY job using 98% these components. Its a lifetime job. It is subdued enough to live with every day and avoid attracting attention, but at full whack through the gears it takes on a harder edge which is lovely in the opinion of my my ears [:)]. Not quite a 964 RS but easily as nice as a GT2.

H&S seem to have a good reputation for quality systems.

The 951 has quite a complex system and is routed quite precisely taking account of ground clearance too.

Promax had a nice system with a switchable option a few years back, forget the brand, and not sure they are still available.

There's a thread on here somewhere ("exhausts for the northern boys") that I started. Getting my custom made system done in about 10 days and they're making a jig too. Will be £550 once done, I'll get some before, during and after pics and vids.

If it looks a bit like the tip on this bike, then it might be the rear box that RPM used to sell for 944's. AFAIK Promax have sold all of their large bore WORTEC exhausts that had the switchable noise valve and I don't think any more will be made.

That's a pretty good compassion, many thanks. Of course I don't know until the cars back what the system is 100% or if it's good or bad. It's certainly not to my taste but I don't want to be changing looks for a drop in performance.

If we could have some pics along with the system name that would really help. I'm not sure the round pipe looks as well as a slight oval.

They have, I had the last one, but I opted for fixed at quiet. Still makes a nice noise for a daily mind.

That sounds like it might the Janspeed one that ESS used to sell - the alternative was a twin pipe arrangement.

They are very fine exhausts and mine has the loud button enabled which I may occasionally use [;)] But yes don't think they are doing any more of them.

I have a customer interested in selling his Wortec switchable one that he bought from Promax, he has the whole lot, including switch and plumbing.

He is a member on here, but in case he has not spotted this thread, I have chimed in and will email him to let him know. I think his username on here is something like aporschefan
