My warranty on the 987 is up and i will not be paying the OPC £1000+ for another one .
Have been onto Warrantywise and they have quoted £515 but are doing a promotion [dont they all ] for £315 with an excess of £100 per claim they allow a rate of £35 per hour any more than that and you have to make up the difference ,this would cover most independents up here but not the OPC rate so if the car went into a OPC for say a RMS say taking 6 hrs I would have to fork out £100 + £390 so not such a saving as one would think , for £315 I might take them up on it and take the car if anything happens to a good independant we have a few in the Glasgow area ...any thoughs I also tried Tesco they wanted £419 for a similair policy

PS Have been on to Tesco and it appears there policy has no limits or excess and you can take the car to any garage and they will pay the full bill on your behalf anyone had any experience with either of these companies

FWIW I've just taken out the Tesco warranty on my 2004 S. You have to watch some of these policies though - there are a lot of exclusions on some of them, and the really expensive work (gearbox, RMS, etc) is sometimes not covered.

I have heard allot of those so called warranties are not worth the paper they are written on I was looking to find out if anyone had any experience on the two that I may go for. Thanks

I currentlyhave a Warranty Direct policy on my 986. Cost £500 in the end and also covers OPC repairs and Audio. Started out at £800. I have never had to claim but a friend with BMWs has claimed from them twice and had no problems.

Hi Brian, interested in what you say - did you have a voucher code or something as I can't get my quote below £520 Thanks, Andrew

I got the option to buy a gold AA warranty for £349 from the dealer (non-porsche) who I bought my 2005 boxster from. Looking through the paperwork it does seem quite a comprehensive warranty in terms of what's covered.

Just swapped from Porsche to tesco, £41.90/month over 10 months. A colleague has a tiptronic switch unit replaced by Zentrum with no quibbles at all, total bill around £300

I'm just about to change over to Tesco too. Extensive questioning regarding what's covered seems to have come up with positive answers. I checked warranty direct who seemed to have the best alternative with respect to what's covered but couldn't get them below £500 (ish). Fingers crossed we don't have to find out just how 'good' these warranties are!
