AGM

Am contemplating subjecting myself to the delights of this fabled annual event this year. After some of the reports that came out of last years gathering (especially the anti forum attitudes of many there) I feel I would quite like to witness first hand who says what and why.

Is it just a case of any member can turn up on the day armed only with a comfortable cushion and a Zen like calm ?

Absolutely.

You may be surprised how mythical goings on are just that - myths, but will only know for sure if you are there.

Sorry, I refuse to listen to the outcome of anything discussed at the AGM as its only a small representation of the membership that is involved [;)]

Cushion is essential, the chairs are terrible. The process of purchasing suitable seating should have been put through a rigorous commitee stage prior to a decision being made. [8|]

In my opinion the AGM is a chance to get a snapshot of where the Club is now, and hear from the people who are steering it through the current choppy waters. Also, there are legal things like voting on changes and new Directors etc. It's not a place for lengthy discussion on things, that's why we have a team of volunteers getting together for Worker's Conferences, although a few people always seem to want to stay all day and into the night! I think it's important to go and be involved, and it's nice to stop for a pie and a pint on the way home. [:)]

Those chair are cruel, I know, but if my memory serves me right, they were given to the club free of charge a few years ago.

Hi All

"Chairs"

Sorry folks, but I must take full responsability for these cafe style chairs.

They were not free, but were the cheapest option at the time and we "the Club" needed something that was long lasting, light and would stack and travel well.

As we have now had them for about 8 years they have been great value for money. They also give rise to various humorous and not so humorous comments each year.

On a positive note they also keep the AGM time down, depending on how well you are upholstered or the quality of cushion you bring[:D][:D][:D]

See you there.

Have fun

I seem to recall Gel filled cycling shorts under your trousers/jeans [:)] were a must when I used to attend car club AGM`s........................Often prompting me to ask the wife "does my bum look big in this?" [8|]

............................also a Y shaped stick to put under your chin and rest on your pot belly and dark glasses so no-one knew you`d nodded off unless you snored..................

or even worse.........

................dribbled []

The only advantage I have found to being on the Board so far is I get to sit on comfy chair at the AGM. The disadvantage of the comfy chair is its location. [8|]

Thats what I figured - and I do like to form my own opinions based on facts and not hearsay. [;)]

Oh come ON man! I never let a few pesky facts get in the way of a good rumour or two!

(What are we talking here about by the way? Is it to do with the silvered bulbs that produce orange light from clear LED's? Or have I missed something else as well?)
