I've been reading that the premium saved by having a tracker is not not much. Do any of you guys have an agreed value policy with an insurance company who do not insist on a tracking device? I don't fancy forking out another several hundred pounds for a new device.....especially if I don't really want the car back if it is stolen and ragged - worse still if damaged but insurance company insist it is repaired due to the value of the vehicle!

I have my 993 insured with Lancaster and have no tracker fitted. Car is garaged, btw.
Don't think it came up in my conversation with them when punting around for cover.
Incidentally, I found Footman James to be a complete waste of time. Slogged through their online forms only to get two messages that they could not provide cover. Not quite what it says in their ads.

Yes, on Agreed Value.
Limit to 3K miles per year but I think I can raise that at extra cost.
Owner driver only; no business use etc - normal conditions for a second car/toy!

+1 for Classic Line, had my 968 with them for about 3 years now, agreed value, no mention of tracker, has to be second car (toy), would recommend them.
Mannings want my car to have a tracker .... Perhaps due to value >50K. Problem is I don't want a stolen and damaged car back where they are likely to get it repaired due to value of vehicle. I might entertain it if the car can go back to Stuttgart to havit repaired - what's the chance they will agree to that!

Evening John, apologies for the late reply, I've only just seen your message; it's a 1994, C2.

Thanks for the reply Les - mine is a 1997 (if I recall correectly they said mine was not old enough (guess they must work on a 15 years basis - soon be there[]
John,
My car is a '97 car insured with Lancaster's on an agreed value 'Classic Policy', 6000 miles, £150 excess, no NCD required although I have built up a few years anyway.
I lost my 10+ years second (Porsche) car NCD several years ago when I switched to Carole Nash, then started to build it back up with another insurer, and will now 'lose' it with the Lancaster policy not that it will concern me all the time I can have a classic policy.
It is really strange that Lancaster's won't insure your same age car.

Interesting Chris - they will insure your car on an agreed but not mine (mine 1997 993)
I would have thought I might have got a bit of a deal[] since it was only last year I invited one of the Directors from Lancasters to come along and talk to us at Club night about the services they offer - I also could recommend them since I have had my old bus with them for ten plus years[&:]
