AHA Radio connectivity to PCM using Bluetooth and Android phone (Samsung S7)

Is anyone successfully using the Aha Radio app connected to PCM for live traffic updates etc using an android phone (Samsung S7) ...?
If so what's the trick to connect it....or things you should do...e.g. so with Aha App live on phone...are there certain settings I should be looking at and enabling on Tuner, Nav etc...
Does putting in a SIM in the PCM telephone module provide any data/online services separate to a B/Tooth connected phone?
Appreciate any guidance?
Thanks all
Steve

[FONT=calibri"]As far as I know the Aha App connectivity is not fitted to all models and PCMs, however when browsing the Porsche Tequipment selection I found that it was possible to do an ‘Online Services’ upgrade to the PCM 3.1 on my Cayenne and that allowed the Aha App to connect as well as providing Google POI search etc.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
[FONT=calibri"]I’ve been using the Aha App on my Samsung S7 for the last few months on my Cayenne. As far as I know, if the Aha App is running correctly then it pairs automatically with the PCM once the Bluetooth pairing is complete ie after you get something like ‘AUX BT connected’ you should then get ‘Aha ready’, and generally a few minutes after that the real-time traffic info loads.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
[FONT=calibri"]The problem with the Aha App is that you must be in a good signal area when you start to use it, it’s not smart enough to keep looking for data and so if you don’t have a good data source when you start the App then it won’t work.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
[FONT=calibri"]My own sequence to use it is now:[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
  1. Start the Aha App in a good data signal location, either 3G or better, or Wi-Fi.
  2. Make sure that App is working by selecting the ‘Play’ symbol in the bottom left. You can then either carry on listening or press ‘Pause’.
  3. Start the Cayenne, once it goes through its pairing sequence all is usually well.
[FONT=calibri"]As I said, the big problem is that the App must have a good signal to start with, and I can certainly see why Porsche moved to an inbuilt SIM card with PCM 4! I’ve tried a data SIM in the PCM telephone module, but it won’t supply data, it seems we’re tied to the vagaries of Aha![FONT=verdana, geneva"]
[FONT=calibri"]Anyway I hope this helps, please post or PM me if you want any more info or pictures etc.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Thank you John very much, this is most helpful.
I've finally worked out that despite the standard spec for a Black Edition stating is has Online Services - Internet (UN1) enabled, my car for some reason has NOT.
Hence every attempt to get AHa Radio working results ONLY in the AUX BT - audio streaming function working and no visibility of any other Online or RTT service.
End result, similar to your own discovery, the car needs the two software upgrades applying to it.
One for Online Services, 958 044 900 28, @ ONLY £247 and secondly the RTT, 997 044 908 80 with no UN1 at bargain cost of ONLY £479, giving the PCM 4.76 hardware update and the latest Nav Update with RTT services...
So, I'm not going mad and would never have got AHA Radio working for online or RTT services.....and the Handbook/Manuals SHOULD state that these are OPTIONS with upgrades required...
Thanks again
Steve

Finally, all done and fully integrated with PCM...funny how it all works perfect when all the correct software updates have been loaded, latest maps, Online & RTT services with v4.76 s/w version loaded on PCM. Not knowing how it worked in the first place left me a bit in the dark so to speak..and strangely the OPC and Techs didn't have a clue either like I'm the first customer to request the full AHA services!
When it's all loaded you see AHA as a separate Media input in addition to the "AUX BT" option. i.e. ...DAB; iPOD; AHA; AUX; AUX BT; etc....
By selecting AHA (and you don't need to do anything on your phone for play etc, it connects via standard BT connection - your phone just shows two images on the screen, a Porsche and AHA logo with the two way communication arrows between them) you then get a full screen similar to when you select DAB Radio with a "Station List" showing not only various podcasts, radio stations but also options like "Hungry", "Hotels" etc...so you'll get selections lists (not just online music but other POI stuff) via this screen as well as the Nav POI and Google Online Services.
I've also got the RTT loaded and enabled so whilst viewing NAV MAP you see traffic flow coloured on the main roads feeding live...this is without a a route programmed and in addition to TMC broadcast.
I also understand now that if you want to use the integral PCM SIM slot for Data you also need that enabled within the PCM system in order to use both SIM(Data) and BT phone options (calls and messages, contacts, etc.) together!
