Ahh! Oil leak!

Any ideas on whats wrong with my RS? I have a wee puddle of oil in the garage at the front off side corner. I expect it is the oil tank or connections to it but I can't see much with the under tray on. I have ordered a CD of the maintenance manual for 964 as my Haynes one doesn't cover them.

Hope it's not expensive to fix

Take the front wheel off and remove the arch covers and you should be able to see where it is coming from.

Front offside suggests the oil cooler or it's feed pipes ? Look into it sooner rather than later. Oil is the life blood of 911 Air/Oil cooled engine

A correctly assembled 964RS Blueprinted engine NEVER NEVER LEAKS! Unless a previous rebuild etc has not been correctly done. These engines were properly put together with I am sure the right glue manifolds etc as they never leak with extra extra care a very unusual complaint.........[]

Oil cooler/feed pipes for sure (assuming you're not in the US or Europe!!)

Easy to get to -jack up, axle stand under lower wishbone, wheel off, unscrew wheel arch liner.

Des does your car have the engine in the front now ? The leak is offside front ?[:)]

Thanks for all the advice. Will jack the car if I can get the jack under at the front. Just fits at the back so may be able to get an axle stand in there. Was not expecting problems so early in my ownership.

According to other forums it may just need the oil pipe connections cleaned. Here's hoping!

P.S there is a smaller drip at the back but I am pretenting it was a one off and will go away as it is at the expensive end ;O)

If a jack doesnt fit under the car as it sits, drive the front tyre onto a piece of 2x2 or a brick carefully and you will then have room for the jack to fit under. [;)]

Thanks for all the help. I have degreased the cooler and fan and hopefully will see if there is a problem. It was probably the Mobile 0-40 creeping through the connections threads at the top. Here is hoping!

Connections were in very good nick with no sign of corrosion.

No more puddles after yesterdays run :O).

"........Mobile 0-40........."

No! No! No!

Too thin -use Mobil 1 Motorsport -15-50(?)

I plan to use more viscous oil at the next change but have also opted for a 2nd hand oil cooler just in case! 50 quid on epay:O)
