Looking for a Boxster at the moment, as I have a 2 year old son can someone please confirm that the passenger air bag can be deactivated, ive done a search and also spoken to porsche Bolton, they told me they could do it but would have to buy there seat a total cost of 700.00!!, Is it not possible to just have a switch turning it on and off so I can use any seat, or even have it turned off altogether..

Thanks

Mark

Sure I was naughty and pulled the orange plug out. If I get a decent bonus I may think about a permanent solution, till then this does the job. Whenever you need it reset just pop down to your local Indy who services the car they will re-program it for you, 5 min job.

So what age you looking for ?

Thanks, a simple cheap solution..

Been looking for around an 02, but im more intrerested in the mileage and service history than actual age, have picked up loads of tips from this forum and probably will make sure its a facelift model seen a few at good prices with the sat nav etc..

I was just browsing the carnewal.com web site (upgrades>p86), and they list the airbag deactivation kit for 115 Euros. It needs to be enabled in the airbag control unit, but if you are anywhere near me I can arrange that.

Thats very interesting and much more reasonable. Do you have any idea if this is self fit or need to take it in.

Also the belt is in the middle, does that mean you need Porsche seat only.

Yeah not far am in Denham, work in Reading :)

But am forking out bigtime on an ICE upgrade next week so might have to delay a little.

I think you need to use the buckle from the Porsche seat to activate the de-activation (if you see what I mean) - the seat is 195 Euros from Carnewal. I'm not sure if any ISOFIX seat would fit - it's many years since we had the child seat problem. I have the fitting instructions - it doesn't look like rocket science to me. If you would like a copy, email me and I'll attach them to a reply.
