Has anyone had this problem on there car and if so what was the problem?

Does the 993 have a clock spring like the 964 that needs resetting or something?

Just deciding if the car needs to be booked in or if I can turn up and get the computer reset?

The "clock spring" is the spiral connectot between the steering column and the steering wheel. The 993 definitely has one. It's failure is often the cause of the airbag light. However, there is also a passenger airbag circuit so I would recommend getting the fault codes read rather than just resetting the light. the fault codes will give you some idea of where the fault is and also if it is an intermittent or permanent fault.
