Air box question help please

Hi guys i have just installed a motorsound airbox and my question is, there is an aditional pipe that goes to the airbox from the what looks like the exhaust??

Is it best to atatch this or leave it to the side of the airbox, as i would have thought this would allow hot air into the air box if it was atatched

anyway you thoughts would be great.
cheers

Was thinking of getting the Motor sound myself to beef up the incar volume. How do you find the change from the regular cover?
Cheers

Hi, its got quite a bit more induction noise, really pleased for the price, sounds bloody good, going to get a set of Fabspeeds next as i love the car but half of buying a Porsche 911 is because of the noises it makes, and as standard they are too quite.

Maurice does this mean the air box also filters the clutch, seems a bit odd! and dangerous for the engine should some clutch dust get through.

Excuse my arrogance if im completly off track here, as i have no idea what the attatchment to the air box is to do.

Yes it draws air out of the clutch area and therefore clutch dust. An interesting design hey?

Thats why its best to best to keep the OEM air filter, and not use a sports air filter IMO.

Christ thats seems crazy, surely the pipe would be best disconnected and to the side of the airbox??

Hi
Its not just for dust,it creates a air pull to keep cooler air circulating the clutch,993 and 964 are quite heavy on the clutches.
It also drags as much dust as poss out,to minimise build up of worn clutch material around the clutch mech and release bearing etcWhere they all seize or get stiff.Seems a strange design i know, but best to use standard filter if pipe is connected. And clean it or change at regular intervals, again depends on how hard you treat your clutch.
On my rs,i dont run the pipe out to the filter, have not used for 3 years now,but did try a pipe blowing air in from the fan.
i use throttle bodies and K&N filters,so no provision for a pipe to filter.
