As per title how could should it be when set to low. Should it be like article conditions or just a mild cooling effect?
Cheers

There are grills, so im thinking not a leaking condensor/rad. Also theres no pool under the front of the car. Is it worth going somewhere like kwikfit?

Chris,

In their advertising blurb, I note that Kwik Fit say:

We will replace and recharge lubricant and refrigerant levels in line with your manufacturer's recommendation. If we cannot improve the coolest vent temperature from your car by more than 10% when measured in degrees Celsius - then you pay nothing at all.

By implication, they'll check the interior temperature before and after recharging.

Cool, ive got it booked in for sat morning, hopefully it will be warm outside to give it a proper test. ÂŁ49 for kwik fit to do it.

Good good,

Does amaze me when people don't use it in the winter and then wonder why they have no gas in the summer.

Best of luck with yours Saturday.[:)]

If it doesn't reduce mpg and it is better for the system to be used year round I wonder why manufacturers put in an "ECO" or "A/C off" button? Is it a sop to the treehuggers?
Although I confess I don't run my 100% of the time in winter I do always give it a good blast on every outing to keep the oil circulating. However, having now read deeper into the matter I will leave it on all time.[:)]

Below an outside air temperature of approx 3 degC the aircon compressor is switched off automatically.

Richard,

I think that's why, as well as regassing, a system de-bug is advisable to clear bacterial build up from within the system, which will remove any unpleasant odours.

Gents , The air con only gets smelly when there is a large build up of bacteria on the evaporator surface ,this is propagated by using the air con all the time but conversely if left on permanently the evaporator surface is icy cold and you wont get the smell, Its when you run the system without the air con operating that it smells, but after a while of not using the air con the smell will go away again. ( the water condensing on the surface of the evaporator creating the environment for the bugs to breed. no air con operating= no water produced to grow the bugs)
Spray chemicals are available to kill off the bacteria by admitting through the heating system air inlet to run over the surface of the evaporator and destroy the build up and are considered a service item these days.
On most modern cars due to air con gas leakage regulations for European type approval ,the air con does not actually turn off when you press the econ/snowflake button to defeat the a/c, only reduce its output. this is because an infrequently operated a/c systems gas tight o'ring seals become less effective if the oil in the refrigerant is not carried around the system periodically and that leads to a loss of refrigerant that contravenes the level imposed by Europe. So they are less susceptible to becoming smelly as the systems always on even if you think it's off!
