Air-Con

As Richard states low aircon gas possiblydue to condensors leaking at front, maybe due to leaves clogging rads up and rotting them unless they are cleaned out regularly

Had the same problem myself a few weeks ago. Aircon pump getting VERY noisey. Had the system topped up and checked for leaks and everything is now fine.

Be careful where you go to get the system topped up though. Apparently, the Porsche "gas" includes a system lubricant which some of the high street ones, (Halfords etc.) don't.

didn't know porsche did a gas [8|]

i do know they use pag oil... which all a/c systems use but have varying types

I use very good aircon chap (south east area - http://www.air-care-automotive.co.uk/) - he confirms that gas contains a lubricant to keep the unit's inner workings lubricated . Isn't just Porsche - he's also done my XC90 and Fiesta - seems they all benefit from this lubricant.
After learning the hard and expensive way, I'd recommend getting the aircon serviced and topped up every 2 years, by an aircon specialist. Also the point about leaves (and general greb) in the intakes is well made - if you look in the front vents you will see leaves building up frequently along the bottom edges of the rads. get in there with a hoover - mine had not been cleaned for 15 months and the improvement in cooling was instant.

All reputable automotive air con specialists use gas which contains a lubricant for the compressor.

Get a local recommendation for a reputable air con specialist.

Get your system leak checked before gassing up, any practitioner worth their salt should do this anyway.

If you do need to have any leaks fixed (condensers are the favoutrites) make sure a new drier element is fitted before the re gas.

If you do a search on the forum loads of info on aicon failures/re gas and replacement condenser costs.

Let us know how you get on
