air filter 944 S2

The S2 air filter sits underneath the badge panel (between the lights). It's so long since I changed the filter on an S2, I can't remember if you have to remove the Badge panel - pretty certain you have to.

It's four bolts/screws along the engine bay edge, and a few down near the lights.

The filter housing unclips and comes apart to remove the filter

You do, hence it's often not changed for years. [&o]

Are there any kits out there that remove the airfilter and housing and instead have a cone shaped air filter that bolts straight onto the AFM to improve air intake?

There are, but they tend to do no more than just make it noisier [&:]. In fact Peter E did quite a lot of experimenting with the length of the snorkel only to find you actually lose midrange power when doing away with the airbox [&o]

If/when you replace the badge panel, there are two screws at the very ends of it, pointing outwards (horizontally) to the side of the car. Flip the headlights up, pull the rubber selas along the bottom edges out (if they are there) and look in the bottom outmost corner of the space - you'll see the bolts. DON't try removing the panel without taking the bolts out as you will bend it!

Oli.

There are also two screws holding the badge panel on the longitudinal metal plates on the inner side of the pop ups.
They are a bit tricky to install back as they require a long screwdriver and need you not to shake otherwise they will fall down somewhere in the bumper.
