AIR INJECTION SYSTEM?

Hi, Now the weather has turned the SC is in the garage for the winter and I'm tending to some jobs, having removed the old exhaust system the next job is renewing the oil tubes and a couple of other pipes that appear past it, one of these seems to be the air injection pipes and injectors, my question is,
1) what does this system do?
2) Is it easy to dismantle and replace with new pipe and injectors (no nasty situations occuring as a result).
3) and any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Nick,

1. It dilutes exhaust gasses, it was implemented mainly due to tight emission laws in the USA.
2. & 3, remove the whole system and plug up the holes with the kit you can get from Type911 and other Porsche places. It should free up a few HP as well!
