Air intake Mesh fitted

thought i would share here too

Here is how I fitted mine to a pre 2003 model:

Materials:

I ordered the mesh from eBay and you can choose black or aluminum

I decided 9x5 mm was a good compromise as some have shown concern over the really fine stuff causing raised temperature issues.
Take care handling this stuff as it has sharp edges!

You will also need 12 screws. I bought 10x13mm from Halfords at a fairly expensive price of £1.59 for 6.

Remove front bumper as described here:

Pop out the intakes starting from the end nearest the bumper center.
Cut mesh roughly to size as shown here:

Lay the mesh over the intake and just form with your hand to its contours.
Drill 6 small pilot holes and fix with self tapping screws.

Trim excess mesh off where it protrudes beyond intake

Refit bumper and you're done. No more debris in your radiators.

This does look neat.

I did mine a couple of years ago but went for the outside mount instead of pulling off the bumper.
