air intake

I have a 2.5 944 1983 race car, I am going to remove the headlights etc and replace the front panel with a fibre glass version. I have come across one with a cut out in the front near side where the headlight should be for engine air intake. My car has the standard air box and intake pipe through the inner wing.
I could reroute the existing intake pipe to the front fibreglass letter box or I could do the same by fitting a Carbon Dynamic Box. Will I be waisting my time ? Does it make any difference ?
Thoughts and experiences please, thank you.

If you haven't already, you might get more results by visiting Tom at Augment for a new ECU and cam? Andy97 has got some impressive numbers on his 924S race car.

Cold air is good, most aftermarket induction kits aren't. When we were testing our Compact Cup car (BMW 318ti, virtually stock engine) on rolling road, we found beat results with the factory airbox fitted with cold air pipe from the bumper and a fresh OE air filter.
