Air Noise

Hello

I have a 964 Turbo. Since owning it last year, I have noticed a noise of rushing air in the area of the door pillar behind where the wing mirror is.

I have changed the felt door seal that runs along the door frame but it has made no difference. The rubber door seal looks is good order so I am scratching my head as to where the noise is coming from,

Any ideas as to where the noise is coming from? I wonder if it is coming off the wiper blades??

Cheers

Jeremy

could it be from the seams running up the front windscreen pillars?.. i know there are some ruf bits which stick on in that area and take the flat edge of the seal away to make it more aerodynamic..
i cant hear wind noise in my car, thanks to the exhaust and intake [:D]

Jeremy, they all do that at 150mph.........should be the same on the passenger side[8|].

Seriously, as an experiment tape up various panel gaps and see if there is a difference, open the sunroof slightly and see if the cabin pressure changes and the noise with it.

The real 911's are a bit like this and the A-Pillar is a major contributor. RUF have a moulded insert for the Screen Pillar, and their '88 CTR had the Rain Gutter removed, they must have wanted to crack 200mph or perhaps the noise irritated them.

I would agree - the problem is the door seal - and it is difficult to remove unless you have the door/window frame very tight - probably too tight. The ruf pillar infills were good for around 5mph extra bit did little noisewise - that is not where the whistle noise comes from.

If it is the passenger side have a passenger gently push the top wind frame outwards and I bet the noise will stop. If on your side you can do the same - if you can take one hand off the wheel! You may have more air getting in but the whistling will stop,

New rubber seals and frame felt help as will increasing the tension of the window frame against the body - yes the window frames can be adjusted. But all said and done they normally let some wind in past 140ish. The 993 had a better seal/door frame seal.

Many thanks for the advice guys. I'll try the things you mention and see if I can narrow down the problem.
