Ive decided to try and sort out my AOS hopefully next weekend as i think the seals have gone bad and its sucking oil into intake. Thought id ask the old question, "while im in there" is there anything else worth replacing? ive heard someone mention hoses but im not sure if that was on a turbo.

Noticed your signature - any bodyshop should be able to match your paint, or even Halfords will make touch-ups to your colour code.

Well my pholosophy on this is to replace anything that looks like it might be a perishable item such as anything that is made of rubber, any gaskets, seals, o-rings etc. I'm not sure what is involved in removing the AOS so can't think of any specifics, but any rubber component that has been there since the car rolled off the production line will be way past its best.

You probably know already, but I think getting to the AOS requires removing the inlet manifold, so I'm sure there'll be a few gaskets required. Be interested to hear how you get on as I'm hoping my oil burning is similarly caused.....(although it does have 243k on the clock!)

Big bit of plastic attached to the side of your engine - at the top is the oil filler, and down the bottom I believe it somehow scavenges the oil from the vapour that has been stirred up in the crankcase. According to some reports on Rennlist, if the AOS seals go you end up drawing a lot more of this vapour back in to the induction side through the breather system. They also tend to just leak oil directly as well.
