Hi All, just a quick note. My boxster 2004 3.2 s developed a bit of a smoke issue. I read the reports on the net to find that the AOS was the likley cause. The symptoms of clowds of white smoke on and off but not clearing and an engine light on! I removed the aos but it is a different part to the early boxsters and is attached via two 8mm headed bolts accessable from the top of the engine bay. You do not have to remove the rear d/side wheel. I have ordered a new AOS from JCT at Leeds for £48.00. I was very interested as to what was in the AOS so I removed the cover with a junior hacksaw to reveal a very thin diaphragm and spring arrangement. The diaphragm was perforated (ripped) and therfore would not be able to govern the amount of vacuum/ free air from the crankcase breather into the air intake. Thus blowing loads of oil vapour & oil if left long enough to cause dammage.
