I know that received wisdom is that this bit of kit is not needed for the UK so it can be ditched. However I am trying to keep my car as near original as I can.

I fooloshly took mine apart to fix a squeak; foolish because I have been thwarted on reassembly by finding that the whole unit locks up when I finally tighten the case bolts (its fine till the final tightening)

Anyone have any ideas from past experience? I doubt it but thought it would be worth a go. I expect you have all done the sensible thing and ditched it..
