Air Suspension Warning light

This came on today whilst driving so will be taking the car in this week, but are there any common faults this could be. I guess main 3 are compressor fault, leak or sensor. Just wondered if there was a likely culprit. The car is Cayenne S 4.5Ltr petrol 55 plate.

cheers

My battery completely died on me after having been away for 3 weeks and the same thing happened to me once I had got it powered up again. Try doing the steps in the manual after a battery goes completely flat as it cleared my warning and all is fine again. I think it's 2 twists on the key into the lock position and then turn full left and then full right and drive it normally for a few seconds. The light should go out. It's all in the manual as to exactly what to do but worth trying.

Thanks Ben. I did as you described and the fault has cleared. Went through the various high settings and all seems to be working fine. will see how it goes over next day or so, and of course if it re-occurs I'll have it checked out. Many thanks for your advice, really appreciate it.

Got to the bottom of the fault, so hope this helps others who have similar problem as this is apparently quite common. The compressor piston ring is worn and so it can't fill the air tank to the required 12,000psi. This makes the compressor hotter as it works harder to try and reach the required pressure. This causes the temp sensor on the compressor to create a fault warning, which clears each time you turn the engine off. Mine reaches 9500 psi so the air suspension works ok (it needs 7500 psi I believe to work).

Two solutions - £1300 + fitting for a Porsche new replacement unit, or £15 for replacement piston ring kit. (Amazon sell them as do many others) + fitting/DIY

Has anyone used the kit?

Hope the above is informative .

Update - bought the repair kit from a company in Sheffield for £14 and had it fitted yesterday at Porschtek in Leeds. Seems to have done the trick and saved £1,000 in the process.
