Airbag De-activation Kit

Has anyone had the Passenger Side Airbag de-activation kit fitted yet? Ummh it's that time again in my wife's life when the patter of tiny feet are all but a memory, and then BAMMMMM - You guessed it - one new C2S, wife, 2 kids and one new baby due!!!! (we both got one then).

Anyone idea of work involved, costs etc.

Good to see the kids don't intrude on 911 ownership!

Hopefully the kit is a switch and doesn't permanently disable the bag. If the airbag is permanently disabled (like disconnected and a ballast resistor fitted to keep the warning light off) then the seatbelt is no longer suitable for an adult. They have load limiters in that pay the belt out to minimise chest loading, clearly this has to work in conjunction with the airbag for an adult. Just check the kit will include a replacement passenger seatbelt retractor without load limiter if it's not a switch.

If it is a proper switchable bag then ignore all my ramblings!

Thanks Gary, I seem to remember seeing a picture somewhere of a replacement near side dash-end with a key hole in it that switched the bag off, but whether this also disabled the seat belt tensioner I am not sure?

Sounds like a proper kit,

The pretensioner is fine with child seats so no need to turn that off.

Strange they don't fit this as standard when all VW Golfs have them!

Enjoy your new car.

Have you seen this yet?

Flame.......Just ask him about his record of child saftey when it comes to Quad bikes!......[8D]

Goodness knows why they can't fit this as standard. Given the choice between having a standard loom in the factory, or adding it as an extra, with all the associated possibilities of loose connections etc surely has to be safer done as an original fit.
