Airbag deactivation

I can't remember if there is a weight switch on UK spec cars but you do need the switch to disable the passenger airbag prior to fitting a child seat.

I have checked the US cars do have a weight sensor and already have the Passenger Airbag Off (PAO) light in the centre console. The switch is therefore shows OFF and AUTO. The UK kit includes the PAO and also the switch shows ON and OFF as there is not a weight sensor.

Hi all, I recently acquired a 2006 Cayman S. The car doesnt have the manual switch to deactivate the airbag, but I assume this is was a factory/dealer option.

I've been looking on the web and have seen some posts about a weight sensor that deactivated the airbag if there isnt enough weight on the seat - is this correct ? Or was that feature just for US Market cars ?

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you !

Ok thanks - also explains why I couldn't find a reference to the weight sensor in the manual. Thanks v much for the info - appreciated!
