AIRBAG LIGHT -- INDICATING?

insatiable

New member
I had to go into the RHS door to adjust the window glass forward and in doing so had to remove the airbag. The battery -ve terminal was disconnected whilst working on the door. Ihad difficulty disconnecting the airbag connector and removed the purple cover over the airbag side of the connector before I figured out the simple way.Is this cover what they call the "short circuit spring". If so I read somewhere that it should not be removed although I can't understand why?
Anyway having put it all back again I found that the Airbag light now stays on.
I've rechecked the connections which are OK and there is power to the aibag albeit a fluctuating voltage.
I may have turned the ignition on whilst the airbag was disconnected, would this register as a fault which now has to be cleared or have I "goofed " elsewhere?
Cheers,
Glenn

If you switched the ignition on with the battery connected and the airbag disconnected it will definitely cause an airbag fault light. This can only be cleared with a Porsche System Tester. If the battery was disconnected the whole time, you shouldn't have got a fault, but you will now need a PST to diagnose the problem!
