Airbag Warning Light

Hi all,

I have been lurking rather than posting until now...

7 weeks ago the dashboard display on my 987 displayed "˜System Fault Airbag'. I took it to the OPC and they reset it. All was well until today"¦

The dashboard display is now once again saying "˜System Fault Airbag'. I called Porsche Assist and a very nice chap from RAC was with me in 20 minutes. Quite why they bothered wasting his time, God knows.

He can only plug in to check emissions, nothing else. He advised me to take it to the OPC ASAP and ask them to tell me exactly what the computer says when they plug it in.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I've not experienced this problem with my Box. However, I had exactly the same occurence
with a previous car of mine. My Honda Accord was utterly brilliant. Except where the airbag warning light was concerned! []

Exactly the same fault as you describe. In 6 years, it went to the main dealer on as many occasions. They would find no fault, reset it and it would be fine for two weeks.

In the end they advised that it was definately down to a faulty sensor. So they changed it. Fine for two weeks then... I gave up in the end. If your car is under warranty, you might want to suggest they look beyond a reset. [;)]

To reset the light you will need to visit someone who can remove the fault. Simply fixing what ever was loose that caused the light to come on will not reset the light on the dash. A garage tripped an airbag light on my 986 and I struggled to find someone other than Porsche that could reset the code that was causing the light on the dash. Can't remember how long it took them but it cost about £50 to resolve - fortunately in my case the garage the caused the problem picked up the tab.
