Aircon Question

Is the aircon constantly on unless you switch it off?

If you press any of the heater buttons it lights a diode so you know its ON. eg heated mirrors, screen and so on..

But when you press the aircon, it lights up to say its OFF and the litlle aircon sign disappears of the screen.

Is this not as* about face - all my other cars, the aircon didn't come on till you switched it on.

No wonder my mpg is so low.

you are right, you have to actually switch it off. the compressor is active all the time, doesn't mean necessarily that it is on all the time, but you have to hit the eco button to switch off the a/c compressor. so you can have a temp on the cc at 20 degrees but if its really hot the car will just stop on the hot air but not add any cold air as the a/c is off.

doesn't make a lot of sense to me either in a colder market. wonder if you can reverse this....

personally once you get over 2 litres i haven't noticed that much of a difference with aircon on or off but yes i guess so!
