I have been looking at various threads and without a good book I can' t find the answer i' m looking...

I beleive my 87 Carrera is fitted with Factory aircon, with the condensor mounted under the rear spoiler, dryer bottle under the front wing, evaporator in the passenger footwell (what a place..??)

From the evaporator, there' s what looks to be a 5" diameter pipe, leading to the ventilation system... In the middle of this pipe there' s an electrical connector bock with a plus with about 5 contacts..? What on earth is this..? If its the fan, it looks to be in a strange place..?

Does anyone out there with a good book know what it is..?
 
Well, it seems that the air-con air only comes out the centre vents, and either air-con or heated air out of the dide vents. So, I would assume that this connector controls a valve to differentiate between the two.

My Bentley book does not make it as clear as it should, but maybe that doesn' t matter, as my air-con is fixed by a specialist.
