Once again, we have received an invitation. to join the Herefordshire Aero Club's popular event in June.

Sunday 24th June, in combination with the Shobdon Village Food and Flower Festival. With a shuttle bus, this year running between the two.

Our memberas have always shown enthusiasm for this event and we did not go last year. There will be all sorts of old and new aircraft to view and opportunities for both power and glider flights.

Bring a picnic or use the catering facilities on site. Please let me know that you wish to come, so I can advise about numbers. We always have a front row display area. Open to other Regions if you wish.............John

Count Sandra and I in John - I used to hold a glider pilots license more years ago than I'd care to mention so it looks interesting (and Sandra will like the Food and Flowers - LOL)!

John - sorry missed your question ages ago about what I flew - T21s and 31s (as I belive you'd recognise them). I was on the Staff at 625 GS South Cerney (The Sqn is now at Hullavington), but that was a loooooong time ago - still have my log book (169 launches - 32 solo) & still in touch with many of the guys. Last time I was there a few years ago for a reunion/anniversary the CO was one of my instructors back in the 70s. They MUST have retired him by now surely - I must check.

PS Sorry I think I missed the evening on Gliding.

Hi Graham,

I meant to ask you that. the last time I saw you. I was never an airfield bum, knocking up countless hours. Just flew mainly on Sundays and at Shobdon sometimes on a Thursday night, plus of course, during holidays. BGA full rated.

Have had some acquaintance with 31's and 21's, viz :-

T21.........P2 x 93.............P1 x 240
T31.........P2 x 2...............P1 x 135

38 Types flown. Instructed in 10.............Many sites.

Total flights...............2,170........................That's all ........Regards...John

I'm not a glider pilot, but notice my last flight (1966) was in a single seater for 6 hours without an engine. Think of the MPG!
