Alan Jeffery's in Plymouth today.

Hi guys, as you may know the 928 and I were unable to attend the convoy across Dartmoor, so to make up for missing such a great day Sunday I thought id treat the 928 to a little detox and health check down at Alan Jeffery's in Plymouth.

The day started with a bottle of injector cleaner and a drive around Torbay before stopping in the local Shell garage for a tank full of fresh Optimax. I like to use an octane booster due to the fact the 928 would have been a 4 star car originally, so today I sought out some Nitrous Oxide Systems road use formula from REVS in Paignton popped it in the tank and set off for Plymouth.

As always Alan and the guys were top notch and after some timing adjustments and a couple of tweeks here and there the end result was very pleasing indeed.

The 928 on the rollers prepped and ready for the power run.

I recently bought a 50bhp single fogger Nitrous Oxide Systems kit for the Porsche and the eagle eyed amougnst you may be able to see the solonoids just to the left of the plenum chamber, there is still some wiring to do but the hard work is done although not yet operational, the aim is that with a little help from the the Nitrous she should see 300bhp plus again.

And I'd be interested to know what it had on the first run before the tweaking [:)]

Ok guys, thanks for the comments.[:)] Alan, depending on where you get your figures from the car should have produced 310bhp straight from the factory in 1981 according to most sources but personally if im being honest I was expecting about 240ish after 28 years of wear and tear. Alex, the car made 271bhp on its first dyno run, improved through its second run due to distributor adjustment during the run and finally the report you see on the third. My brother inlaw Paul works for Alan Jeffery's and I have had dealings with Alan and Martin for many years with countless performance cars (Cosworths Twin Turbo 300zx's etc) and have always found them to be absolutely first class....... maybe we could have an R15 rolling road shootout day, im sure a few members would love to know exactlty what their Porsche is producing, remember as well as performance figures they will also tell you how you car is fuelling throughout the rev range, let me know what you think guys maybe a topic for discussion next Weds night? 20bhp down in 28 years sounds pretty amazing to me? You could count me in for a shoot out - I'd love to know what mine is really pushing out! If you're going to the next meeting on the 8th maybe suggest it then?

I'll second that, only 20bhp down at the start is pretty flippin amazing really. Can you PM me your number and I'll give you a call about the rolling road day idea. I was hoping to include a 1/8 mile drag racing day at Smeathorpe in this year's events calendar but they were served with a noise abatement order last September and have decided not to fight it, so no more drag racing at Smeathorpe [] Shame because I think it would have been popular (either taking part or watching).

That's a big shame! Would have loved to give the launch control a work out at that![:D][:D]

20bhp in twenty years is outstanding but as I said it depends on where you get your figures from, 310 is the top end some data says 299bhp from the factory making it only 10bhp lost in nearly 30 years and that would be borderline unbelievable I think you would agree? I would love to see some of the amazing R15 Porsche's on the rollers, ive only attended one meet so far but after seeing the cars present at the Ley Arms Sunday Roast a few weeks ago and the Dartmoor pictures its clear the standard of R15 cars is top draw and I for one would be in heaven watching some of Germany's finest at full throttle on the dyno. Im absolutely positive that Alan and Martin would be more than happy to host a shoot out day for R15, subject of course to the commitee being happy with such an event and there being enough interest from members. It has also come to my attention that R19 seem to jumping on the band wagon! [:D][:D][:D] Jase[;)]

Further to my last post, here for the consideration of the commitee and organisers are some costs and facts for a day out at Alan's. It would begin at 1pm on a Saturday afternoon. It will cost each car £25 to take part. There will need to be a minimum of 10 cars to run such an event. Owners pay on the day. At the moment, they would need about 2 weeks notice. Finally, Alan and Martin would be more than happy to accomodate an R15 dyno day and insist that all cars would be treated as their own. I hope this information is of some use, I would also like to say that I would be more than willing to run the 928 again to make up the numbers [:D] Jase[;)]

Well if you can get the support from the others, Jase, you can put me down as No 1![8D] Maybe we could throw in an extra fiver each to add to the charity effort this year? I hope to be at the Ley Arms next Wed.

Sounds like a great idea, that makes two of us and £10 for charity already, I look forward to discussing this with you and the guys in greater detail on Weds. [:)] Jase[;)]

Jase - I have sent you a PM about this (not sure whether the email notification is reliable or not...) Alex

I am pleased to say this is now a confirmed event in the R15 calendar for the 22nd August 2009. Places are limited to 20 cars, so book now. Application forms should be circulated soon, alternatively email Simon to confirm your attendance. The cost is £25.00 per car. Even if you don't want to put your Porsche on the Dyno, it is well worth putting the date in your diary, as it should be a spectacle to see the various models completing the run, and I am sure there will be a coffee and some interesting chat available.
