Alarm/ Central Locking Problem

Hi,

I had a problem with my 2001 C4 yesterday. The Alarm went off, I went out to look at the car, could not see any problem, however I noticed the drivers window was slightly open. I tried to close it, but it refused to close all the way, the central locking would not work from the key fob, the car just beeped at me, even the switch to lock the doors would not work. Using the Key locked the drivers door, but of course the passenger door would not lock.

No other problems with the car. I have had to have the car taken into secure storage as I can not secure it myself and it will be going to an OPC tomorrow. Has anyone else had a similer problem or know what could be the problem?

Peter

Hi Peter,

If you open and close the door a few times, the window should adjust to the correct height and close fully when closed.

It sounds like you have a battery problem, so it's either the battery or alternator not charging the battery etc.

Good luck

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried to open and close the door several times, did this not make any real difference, the window tried to close a couple of times, but it kept switching to the drop down position as if the door was open. I was wondering if it was a door sensor that had failed and the car thought the door was open, did not mention before but the interior lights stayed on as if the door was open.

Hello Peter, thats happened once to my car but I don't think it's battery related as my car had recently had a new battery fitted. All I did was get back into the car, start the engine and stop it again. Then, the problem disappeared and it's never reappeared since.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have just been told by OPC that it is the drivers door lock that has an internal fault, £418 later...
