Dear All
I have a 99 boxster s, the remote on both keys has stopped working on the car, and the car is draining the battery completely after only a couple of days standing, I have tried the reset tricks as read about on the forum to no avail, the local OPC reckon its the alarm control unit in the car, has anyone else experienced this problem???

cheers
Nick

Sorry to hear of your problems; A few questions for you, when was the battery last replaced in the car and what sort of use is the car getting? Any wetness under the seats?

Finally where are you based (nothing to do with the problem but may help in testing)?

There is a possibility the fobs have stopped working at the same time. I have got through a few now, they don't seem to be that reliable. Even had the 18 month old spare give up when it rarely gets used.

Thanks for your swift responses; the car has been geting in frequent use since the winter hit so hard, the battery looks like new but it hasn't been replaced since we have had the car so it is at the least 2 years old. I haven't noticed any signs of damp under the seats buut will check that out tomorrow. I'm based in Silverstone so have a few good indys nearby and an OPC up the road.

I have tried out both fobs using reset tricks too, the red light on the dash still flashes in time with the key fobs, which I think is why he OPC thought it was the control unit in the car rather than key fobs

Quick up date, I took the car up to my OPC in Silverstone they diagnosed a faulty ignition barrel/ switch, the replacement of which (after £304) solved the problems
